5 Must Haves At The Beach For Men | Mens Summer Essentials 2019

It’s finally summer, yes! And although my beach bod isn’t in yet its that time to make it out to the beach and knock back some cold ones or soak some sun (or do both). We as men tend to forget about some items that are important to bring with us to the beach. That being mentioned I decided to make a list in order to make your experience at the beach a pleasant one. Some of these are lifestyle stuff and others are style.

Lets dive in!

1. Sun Screen

We sometimes believe that we are ok to be out in the sun without sunscreen. Being Latino with a darker complexion, when I was younger, I thought that I didn’t need sunscreen. I was wrong, I would get sunburnt and hate my life when I would shower or touch the sunburnt area. I highly recommend a sun screen that’s higher than 50 but 30 usually does the work. Here are a few tips from the American Academy of Dermatology on how to prevent sunburn:

Away: Stay away from the sun in the middle of the day. This is when the sun's rays are the most damaging.

Block: Block the sun's rays using a SPF 15 or higher sunscreen. Apply the lotion 30 minutes before going outside and reapply it often during the day. Sunscreens should not be used on infants under 6 months of age.

Cover-up: Cover up using protective clothing, such as a long sleeve shirt and hat when in the sun. Use clothing with a tight weave to keep out as much sunlight as possible. Keep babies less than 6 months old out of direct sunlight at all times. Hats with brims are important.

Remember guys looking tan is cool, red….not so much protect that face!

2. Sandals

Sandals are a necessity at the beach, you can’t wear your nice shoes. Now I know, they are not the most stylish things to wear, but its for the purpose of being at the beach. These sandals here are from Mio Marino, now you guys know they always have cool stuff. I like that they have different colors and they are all neutral so they go with all of your outfits. These sandals are also great because they have memory foam and a 1 inch sole. You can check them out here.

3. A “Cool” Shirt

What I mean by cool shirt is a both cool and cool. Mio Marino was kind enough to also send me one of their Evening Tropics Cotton Shirts. Now, I was skeptical when I got this shirt, I am not the biggest fan of Hawaiian shirts but when I put this shirt on I was really impressed. One of the assumptions that I have always had was that Hawaiian shirts were ill fitting and that they were too boxy, but this one was far from it. I paired it with a great pair of linen pants and I loved the look. You can check this shirt out and more here.

4. Water

The beach is a wonderful time, playing volleyball on the beach, tanning, etc. Sometimes when having all this fun we forget to drink water. Remember to bring along water, a gallon prefered. We should be doubling our intake of water in the summer.

5. Beach Bag

When going to the beach you need something to carry all your stuff in. A great beach bag is perfect for storing all of your items. This bag is also from Mio Marino and its so spacious to store multiple items, keys, extra clothes, your sunscreen etc. This one that you see below is more catered for the ladies, but who says you still can’t rock it to the beach? You can find the bag here as well as other colors. This bag also does have a matching hat that comes with it so its perfect for the lady in your life.

6. Sunglasses

Just as important as your skin is your eyes, a great pair of sunglasses will protect your eyes from UV light and prevent any eye disorders such as cataracts. But, above all wearing sunglasses is a great way of just adding style to your outfit and that’s why I wanted to add them to the list of what you need at the beach.
