Dominating Your Skin Care Routine

As men sometimes we do not realize how important our skin really is. Going back to what I mentioned in my exfoliating article, sometimes we are not taught how to take care of our skin as well as we should. Here is the thing, as we get older our skin changes so our skin care routine has to change for certain reasons: crows feet, dark circles etc. In this article I've decided to give you guys a look at my own skin routine and hopefully encourage you to pick up your skin care game or maybe even start one.

First thing is first, make sure you understand what type of skin you have, this is very important. If you do not know your skin type, check out this article here. Let's dive in:

1. Exfoliate

Exfoliating is perhaps one of the things that we as men do not do. If you don't know how to exfoliate, check my exfoliation blog here. Exfoliating is important, I do this once a week, I pick Mondays but its up to your availability to what day works for you. Also, I do this only do this once a week because this process can dry your skin too much.

2. Moisturize

Moisturizing is something that I do everyday and is so critical to your skins health. I did some research and a dermatologist online explains it like this: "Think of the skin's surface like the paint job on a car. If the paint is cracked, the metal underneath is left unprotected from the elements and quickly oxidizes and rusts. The same concept goes for your stratum corneum - once it's dry, brittle, or cracked, you've lost your shield and the skin is vulnerable to exposure from the outside and water evaporates from the dermis. You can get fissures on the skin, and infections can easily occur." (Dr. Ellen Marmur, MD).

That being mentioned, I was contacted by DotGrey skin care products, recently and they asked me try out their amazing moisturizer. Let me just say that just the presentation of this is phenomenal, the boxing and the actual container is so modern and sleek, perfect for the modern gent.  I have oily skin but this moisturizer does not leave your skin oily or feeling like it. It smells great but it doesn't leave a strong sent on your skin. Make sure you try this brand out it will be perfect to include in your skin care routine.

3.  Oil Wipes

I have some Oxy wipes that I use mid-day or after work, especially after work where a lot of gunk gets on my face. As I mentioned before I have oily skin so my face is very prone to acne. When I get home I make sure to wipe my face down with some wipes so I don't run the risk of getting any pimples.

4. Your Diet

Perhaps the most important part of your skin care. You know when I have eaten something with high fat, because my face will be oily. Remember you are what you eat! Making healthier choices in your meals reduces the level of oil on your face and all around makes you feel better.
