I am back! Apologies about not getting any new written content out its been quite a busy season. Nevertheless I am going to be dropping some knowledge about knit ties. We will go over the what, when, how to wear, and where to find them featuring some amazing ties I got from The Tie Bar. Lets dive in!
Knit ties, what are they, you may ask? Good question, knit ties are well: ties that are knit. They are different than your regular tie because they have a different aesthetic. Knit ties come in a wide array of colors and textures. Although they are all knit, there are silk ones, wool ones and everything in between. As you can see here:
When To Wear Them
Knit ties back in the day were meant to be more on the casual side, but now in days people rock them with everything, dressed up (suit), dressed down(jeans). You can rock these ties anywhere, bar, work, they will fit the occasion. These knit ties are more fun so as you can see you can really get some with nice designs. These are different and are great conversation starters, I’d refrain from wearing a knit tie to anything formal such as an interview, a serious business meeting or a black tie event.
How To Wear
There are many outfits that you can pull off with these knit ties. I wanted to demonstrate winter outfits that you can pull off this winter with these knit ties from The Tie Bar. For winter I have two main things that run through my head: Will this keep me warm? Will this look good? All the rest comes after remember guys you have to stay warm but that doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice style. I will link the tie as well as a picture so you can check them out if you’d like. I went with three different formalities (as I always do) Business, Business Casual, and Casual/Street.
Look 1: Business
I went with a navy suit here paired with a light blue shirt, navy tie and white tie clip. Now I know that this is a very “basic” outfit but navy never goes out of style, the options are endless. You can certainly change up anything on this look and it will work, because the color gives for options.
Outfit breakdown: Suit (Express), Cardigan (J Crew Factory), Tie (The Tie Bar), Shirt (Indochino), Shoes (Beckett Simonon).
Look 2: Business Casual
This look is probably one of my favorite looks and its because I love to wear matching vest and pants. This is a great look for someone that doesn’t want to wear a full suit but still wants to look dapper. Outfit Breakdown: Vest and Pants (Express), Bomber Sweater (J Crew Factory), Boots (Express), Tie Bar (Gents Box).
Look 3: Casual/Street
Now I know that by saying street, this isn’t the most “street” forward look but you get it. This look is perfect for someone that wants to add a bit of something to their bad ass look. With this look I wanted to show that you can dress up some jeans with a knit tie. You could switch out the jeans for dark wash or change the leather jacket for a bomber jacket, all of these looks are very versatile and perfect for the weather. Outfit Breakdown: Jacket (Zara), Cardigan (Asos), Shirt (Express), Jeans( Armani Exchange), Boots (DSW).
Why Get One
So why get one? Knit ties are fun and they are something different to wear instead of the normal one, its a conversation starter and opts for different textures to your outfits. And also why not? Just give it a try. If you are looking for some awesome knit ties, please check out my friends over at The Tie Bar.
